Lets start with the down side,crylic scratchs easly,are about twice as expencive. With a poor quality tank they will also bow with time. I would not recommend it for reefs,because live rock,hard corals will scratch them. Glass although much heaver are less expencive,have less distortion.Caution if a glass tank has set emty for a long period of time may leak.Before you buy a used glass tank fill it with water first.However they are fixed pretty easy with water proof caulk.apply the caulk from the inside. Make sure the caulk is for aquariums,house hold caulk may be hazardice to critters...Tom
